The Groenkloof project

This project is focused on blurring the lines between animal habitats and human habitats, exploring to see if it's possible to live in harmony. Natural environments provide many positive attributes to humans, and buildings that consider animals could preserve the biodiversity in the area, something that is lacking in our current design system.

The building is mainly a lab and a work space. The lab is focused on plant studies while the work space is open to architects, designers and anyone interested in what the building is, to come and work there for a certain period.

Situated in a nature reserve, it takes the shape of a flower that encloses a butterfly - just as nature encloses and protects its animals, our design should reflect this and do the same.
